"There is a physical reaction that occurs in our bodies when we experience stress. Hormones and chemicals are released into our blood stream and are traceable for 6-9 weeks after each stress event. In your current life, how often are you experiencing stress? 2, 3, 10 times a day, constantly? These chemicals and hormones place our body on high alert, the “Fight or Flight Response”. Ultimately, we are animals and our bodies still respond with some animal instincts and responses. The Stress Response is called the “Fight or Flight Response”. The first thing that this stress response is designed to do is to shunt our blood up to our vital organs so that we can “fight or flight” from our perceived attacker. The second thing that happens is to shut off all non-essential operations, first being the digestive and elimination processes. We do not need to be digesting our food or having a bowel movement when we are fighting or running for our lives. With frequent or consistent messages to “shut off”, our bowel contraction will eventually stop trying to “turn on”. Now, our bodies are not able to differentiate the difference between the stress of an emotional upset (psychosocial stress), or eating unhealthy food (biogenic stress). Internally our body responds exactly the same to both types of stressors.
Reducing our psychosocial, emotional stress and minimizing the biogenic stress, are imperative to regain or maintain optimal health. Our bodies will burn out if expected to run on high alert for an extended period of time. To run any motor on high for an extended period of time................................"
